Prof. Neri Merhav published his book "Statistical Physics for Electrical Engineering"

Prof. Neri Merhav

This is a short book that is based on lecture notes of a course, that has the same title as the book (formerly, “Statistical Physics, Fluctuations and Noise” – 046242), which I have developed and taught since year 2013. The idea is to deliver elementary concepts in statistical physics in a way which is better oriented to students of electrical engineering (hence the name of the book), with emphasis on background in relevant topics, like quantum statistics (most notably, the Fermi-Dirac distribution, which is essential for understanding semiconductor devices), Brownian motion, diffusion processes noise processes in physical systems (and electric circuitry, in particular), and finally, a very brief touch on information theory.
