Managing E-mail From The Web

You can manage your e-mail from the web. Your starting point is: outlook.technion.ac.il .

Connecting to the Office 365 services

At the Technion it was decided to use cloud computing. In this software it offers all faculty members, employees, and students Office 365 cloud services.

Students and graduates of the Technion already enjoy cloud services. 

all the mailboxes of Technion staff and employees who are on the local Technion server – exchange – will be moved to the cloud by 03.01.2016.

Cloud services include:

  1. A 50G volume exchange mailbox includes managing calendar , contacts, tasks and more.
  2. global address list- Contact list of the entire Technion.
  3. Onedrive -space in the cloud in the volume of 1T with the option to share similar to dropbox .
  4. A complete office 2016 program in the web interface.
  5. Office 2016 for installation on 5 computers or tablets / laptops, including license management.
  6. organizational Skype.
  7. Yammer –A private corporate social network for conversations, file sharing and work processes.
  8. Sites- Enterprise sites for documents, messages, calendars, links, tasks, and more
  9. Video – Uploading and streaming movies

How do I connect to the cloud services?

  1. If you have a local technion exchange mailbox account  – you may skip to step 4.
  2. Please contact the computing unit in request to open an exchange mailbox account. 
  3. Arrange the relationship between the EE, EF, and TX accounts (reference appropriate to the primary account) Please note that the cloud account does not affect the EE email account
  4. Contact the computer unit in request to move to the cloud.
  5. Coordinate and select a time window to move to the cloud.
  6. Making the transition involves disabling the exchange mailbox account for 90 minutes (Depending on the size of the box).
  7. Reconnect to the cloud and all services including the box (Can be done independentlyBy using the username – tx.

User: user@technion.ac.il

Pass: tx password

Please note that there is no connection between the username on tx- And email address
which can be  user@ef.technion.ac.il
or user@ee.technion.ac.il
and even user@technion.ac.il

Connecting to cloud services can be done from

  • Desktop / laptop computer – With Outlook software and identification with user name and password on – tx. Or with other software that supports Imaps (But then some of the services will not be available, such as contacts and calendar).
  • Browser- Web browsing to http://outlook.technion.ac.il .
  • Tablets / PhonesBy setting up an exchange mailbox  account And connecting to the server outlook.office365.com .
  • You can connect to all additional services, such as Onedrive, from the web interface or Using dedicated software , as onedrive for business And then it will be installed on the end computer (if it is not already installed).
