Scattering Tomography using Multiplexed X-ray Sources

This work focuses on X-ray CT while making use of scattered photons. Current CT machines seek to block and filter out scattered photons using both mechanical and algorithmic measures. This dictates the use of only one or two sources, per image. In turn, this increases both total acquisition time, with consequent artifacts generated by movements of the patient. In scattering-based tomography, however, scattered photons are not blocked. This provides flexibility for multiplexing several sources simultaneously, enabling shorter acquisition time, with the same overall dose. We analyze how multiplexing in scattering tomography affects the quality of a recovered object. The multiplexing needs to be chosen using consideration of the geometry of the detector array and noise, specifically photon noise. * MSc seminar under supervision of Prof. Yoav Schechner.
